This is a wetland and stream habitat improvement project within a Salmon-Safe Certified native plant nursery. This project is testing an accounting tool developed by the Willamette Partnership through the Counting on the Environment project and will generate credits for wetlands, salmon and temperature. The site consists of 25 acres within a rural and agricultural setting. Expected ecosystem benefits: to affect water quality, ( Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Sediments, Temperature), Riparian area/Salmon habitat, and Wetland.

Full Project Description

This is a wetland and stream habitat improvement project within a Salmon-Safe Certified native plant nursery. This project is testing an accounting tool developed by the Willamette Partnership through the Counting on the Environment project and will generate credits for wetlands, salmon and temperature. The site consists of 25 acres within a rural and agricultural setting. Expected ecosystem benefits: to affect water quality, ( Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Sediments, Temperature), Riparian area/Salmon habitat, and Wetland.

Goals and Targets

Primary goals:

To restore 25 acres of wetland and salmon streams by grading and digging a new stream channel, replacing a culvert with a new bridge, and riparian planting as well as wetland restoration.
Progress:

Design work began in 2009 on the five year project. Construction began in 2010. Much planning and revegetation work will be completed during Winter of 2011.
