The property is mostly forested wetland and wetland buffer. Forested wetlands are a disappearing resource with high conservation value. Wetlands help in the recharge of groundwater, sediment trapping and filtration, water purification, stormwater detention, seasonal streamflow maintenance, and wildlife habitat.

Birds observed on the property or known to be in the area include:

Mallard duck, turkey vulture, sharp-shinned hawk, Cooper’s hawk, red-shouldered hawk, red-tailed hawk, American kestrel, merlin, Virginia rail, band-tailed pigeon, Western screech-owl, great horned owl, barred owl, Anna’s hummingbird, Rufous hummingbird, red-breasted sapsucker, downy woodpecker, hairy woodpecker, Northern flicker, pileated woodpecker, olive-sided flycatcher, Western wood-pewee, willow flycatcher, Hammond’s flycatcher, Pacific-slope flycatcher, Cassin’s vireo, Hutton’s vireo, warbling vireo, gray jay, Stellar’s jay, American crow, common raven, tree swallow, violet-green swallow, barn swallow, black-capped chickadee, bushtit, red-breasted nuthatch, brown creeper, Bewick’s wren, winter wren, marsh wren, golden-crowned kinglet, ruby-crowned kinglet, Swainson’s thrush, hermit thrush, American robin, varied thrush, cedar waxwing, orange-crowned warbler, yellow warbler, yellow-rumped warbler, black-throated gray warbler, Townsend’s warbler, MacGillvray’s warbler, common yellowthroat, Wilson’s warbler, Western tanager, spotted towhee, savannah sparrow, fox sparrow, song sparrow, swamp sparrow, white-crowned sparrow, golden-crowned sparrow, dark-eyed junco, black-headed grosbeak, red-winged blackbird, Brewer’s blackbird, brown-headed cowbird, purple finch, house finch, red crossbill, pine siskin, American goldfinch, evening grosbeak.

The property is excellent habitat for amphibians such as red-bellied newt, red-legged frogs, western toads, and possible the northwest salamander.

Mammals that are known or suspected to visit the property include deer mouse, Douglas squirrel, Townsend chipmunk, mountain beaver, rabbit, brown bat, Columbian blacktail deer, elk, mole, shrew, striped skunk, raccoon, coyote, cougar, and black bear.
